Does the phrase "excuse me" annoy you when someone starts out with this when correcting another individual? It has always sounded like they are talking down to the other individual or slamming them. Any thoughts?

For me I guess it is their tone of voice when they say it. If they say it condicendingly yes it irks me, but if they just interject and say excuse me no

don't know if that makes sense or not its hard to get those tones of voice on the internet!

suppose it is used in a e-mail response?

My first thing would to be raise my eyebrow like huh?? It would seem a bit condescending, yes for an email response.

I'd have to see the context, but seems weird for an email to me too.
