i know we had a thread about this before but i did a search and cannot find it. i really need to find a good eye doctor, i have put it off way too long. i wear contacts and order them online so i am looking for an eye doctor who is willing to write the prescription without pushing me to buy their contacts. Any suggestions folks?

We use Dr. Dean Strickland in Clayton, where Winn Dixie used to be.

    Strickland P Dean Dr
    11391 US Highway 70 W
    Clayton, NC 27520
    (919) 553-5600

No of us wear contacts but he doesn't seem like the kind of man that would be pushy.

BTW Kaci, thanks for posting that dental clinic. My friends daughter went and got a lot of work done. Also, a co-worker took her son. It was a great thing!

I have no idea... maybe give the office a quick call and see?

(Hee hee, "see" -- no pun intended. :D )

I went to Dr. Byrd in Angier. I thought they tried to push a test (that I had to pay out of pocket for) a bit much, but BF had a good experience there and has no compliants.

i just got my lenes from them. THey didn't push me at all and they didn't charge me that stupid contact fitting fee of a hundred bucks because I knew all I needed and had so much experience with wearing them. i was able to use that hundred for the boxes of lenes for the first time since being down here. All I was charged was the visit which my insurance picked up and then the boxes were covered.
They special ordered my odd-ball lenes for me too. They also have a machine that take pictures of the eye in place of you having to get your eyes dialated. I hate those drops, so I paid twenty extra to have the pics taken. They stay on file and are compared every year. This way blood vessel size and encroachment can be easily measured. It is also easier to spot any problems that may crop up.
I was happy that she didn't try to sell me a bunch of bunk I didn't need. i made kiddo and appointment too for mext week.

We go to Dr. Bowers too, they're great. And they don't pressure you at all.

I second this one. We go to Dr Forrest in Goldsboro but my daughter had a problem that we took her to the dr for (thought it was pink eye). The Dr said we didn't have time to go to Goldsboro and sent us to Dr Strickland. He took her in immediately and stayed in close touch until she was better. And yes he did take out BCBS insurance, kaci.
