With the recent discussion about the teacher/cold medicine bust, http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/1885713/, I thought this was a good time to look further into just how addictive and dangerous METH is to those using it.

    Ken,

I found a similar site of NC citizens with their before and after pics. Showed it to the kid, who got thoroughly grossed out by it. I've read the stat that says that up to 80% of people who try meth get hooked by 2nd dose, and then begin to live their lives searching for the meth high, to the exclusion of ALL else.
In my mind, prevention would turn out to be less expensive to society in the long run, than incarceration.

FWIW, I pray that you and your brothers/sisters behind the badge are safe, and appreciate the job you have to do.

I still maintain, that for the children at PES, the situation could have been handled better. All JCSO had to do was to call her and tell her to present herself at the LE complex, or pick her up before school, or after school. With the warrant they had, and the charges, there appeared to be no real crisis requiring her immediate arrest. And, having the media there conveniently for a "photo op" doesn't speak well for the sheriff. With her ties to the community, she didn't appear as a flight risk. Even if she did, eventually, she'd have gotten picked up. The interpretation that I have read on here was that giving her an opportunity to speak with her lawyer before she turned herself in and thereby contriving her story of innocence is moot. Once she got "Mirandized" all she'd have had to say was that she wanted her lawyer, and then the course of justice could have begun again.

Thanks for the site. Anything a parent can use to help prevent drug abuse is a good thing.

    I agree about the prevention.

Prevention is always cheaper than Correction, whether it's maintenance, law, medicine, etc.

    Appreciate the prayers and support.

Pray also for that teacher and others involved in this bust.

The Devil knows his time is short and he's pulling out all the stops to corrupt the minds and bodies of as many people as he can, and drugs are a great tool for him to use.

Possible new tool to catch meth users

Now this will really put a burden on meth users: they'll have to start bathing more and washing their clothes and cars and houses/trailers. However, I just don't see that happening.
