I have a very close friend over in Iraq right now and he's requested his friends and family to donate to the Fisher House. He's been over there for a few months and he's been getting Protein bars, socks, candy, etc to remind him of home. He's got many friends that have gotten injured and such. We keep asking him what can we send him and he said this is what he wanted most of all. Here is the website for the Fisher House to make donations. The Fisher House is a charity that helps wounded military and their families primarily by providing housing during times of medical treatment so families can be together at those more difficult times. I'm thinking its similar to Ronald McDonald houses.

It would be great to see a show of support from my fine friends here at 4042.:grouphug:

Yes, this is like the Ronald McDonald House. It's a wonderful place where family members can stay during the time their loved ones are in military hospitals. There is one at Ft Bragg and they can always use donations. Many times, the families don't get alot of notice and they come unprepared to stay an extended time. Well worth any consideration of time, money or supplies.

What a great charity. Thanks for getting out the word. I had never heard of it before. Definitely add it to the list of places to give too.

    Fisher House Director

I am still not familiar with how everything works on this site. So please forgive me if this isn't the way it works here.

I know the Director of the Fisher House on Ft. Bragg. She is a wonderful person.

I am not familar with the fisherhouse charity but while supporting autismspeaks I noticed that you can also help out the charity you mentioned by watching the videos associated with fisherhouse. You can sort by charity at the top of the page.

"Watch any video and approximately $1 will be raised for the charity associated with that video."

    just a thought........

If anyone on this site would be interested in organizing a small fundraiser and banning our resources together and make the donation to the Fisher House on behalf of the 4042.com fans, let me know.

It's not just monetary donations which are accepted. Anything from boxes of Kleenex to rolls of toilet paper to bars of hand soap.

Fisher House is run solely on donations.

The last I heard, Ft. Bragg is paying for the construction of their new building. They were to break ground this spring and hope to have the new facility up and in operation by Thanksgiving.

    just a thought....
