I love watching the shows on this channel. But going from recipe to plate has been a challenge. Have any of you tried the recipes with success?

Yep......several of them and have even combined a few different ones to make my own custom version.

Example.....my Cheesy Shrimp and Grits is a combination of two seperate receipes.....Both are shrimp and grit receipies, but I took the best of both and turned it into a single.

My white bean chili also comes from there with a little modification to the original receipe.

I have too.... more than a few of the Paula Deen dishes, a couple of Rachel Ray, a couple of Tyler Florence. I haven't made anything by the Neelys, but they don't look too difficult either. Bobby Flay, Emeril, and some of the more ethnic shows intimidate me a little. Sometimes its just a matter of my not wanting to put out the cash for a specialty ingredient that I might not use again if I didn't like the dish.

We've done about the same as you, Paula Deen's are pretty easy. I also like recipes from Alton Brown. No issues replicating his.

I use a Paula Deen squash casserole that is out of this world.

Her BBQ chicken bites are a favorite around our house. Chuncks of chicken breast wrapped in bacon and dredged in a mixture of chili powder and brown sugar. Makes a kind of dry BBQ sauce and is out of this world good.

I want to make Paula Deens stuffed potatoes. I record all of the best of Paula Deen. Something with applewood bacon, cream cheese, cheddar cheese scallions, sour cream.....man. I am making myself hungry. One she did with either her husband or man friend it was shrip stuffed potatoes. Looked good on TV.

More times than not, I omit the parmesan and use 1 1/2 cups of the sharp cheddar....just my preference. But it's excellent either way. I have also added bacon bits. the oscar meyer ones in the little yellow bag. Yum.

it's super easy and relatively lowfat....which is also good. I use the 2% cheese and olive oil to help with that.

That does not describe a Paula Dean receipe.

Along the lines of what tassy said as well, I have spent about $40 once making one of their meals for just the two of us, and while it was really really good, I probably could have gotten the same thing for less, especially when you factor in the time it took for me to shop at 3 different stores and the several hours of prep/cooking that took place.
