I tried it and was very satisfied. Same phone# and location as Gondofos. Good sandwich, good soup, and good price. I will go back but they have to promise to start making Italian Wedding Soup.
Doug sold the business. It was pretty quiet. From what I heard, let go most if not all of the staff the week before the new owner took over...
Huh, no kidding? So then Jack, please tell us other than the name and possibly the staff, is the new place about the same as the old?
I don't know what that means, but I had no idea they were closed and another name. Shows how much I pay attention!
All the Gandolfo sandwiches had a NY tie in HG. I remember their menu being their best feature. Whatta loooooong day.
Oh, I only went once and thought it was a little too much $$$ for a sandwich :? And I ain't from NY
The new owner has sandwichs that are named for NY and the 40/42 area. He has boarshead meats which he also sells by the pound. I had the chicken cutlet sandwich with melted munster and russian dressing. The potato salad was good and the knish was good. The prices are actually cheaper then Dougs where, since he doesn't have to pay Gandolfos a franchise fee.
Ooo, if he's naming his own sandwiches, maybe he'll name one after me?? I gotta go by there and see this guy!
Jenn, that had me rolling! Ask for a discount when you go. That way YOUR samich really gets a good name! HG, I thought it was a bit steep for the one time I ate there too. Thanks for the report Kdog!
We had a lot of buyonegetonefree coupons so myself and my coworker would split the price so ended up being pretty cheap.
Let's just hope they stay that way. When Gandolfo's opened, their prices were lower and got lots of meat. After a few months or so, the prices went up and meat amount went down. i was told by one of the worker's it was a corporate move and they had no control.
Do you have to be from NY to eat a sandwich named after NY or have to be from here to eat a sandwich named after this area . get real.Does that mean you have to Chinese to eat a Chinese place? Or Italian to eat Pizza?
