http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25107608/ Thoughts and prayers to all these families. I can't imagine.
As most of you know we are a scouting family. I had my boys watch the news as a reminder of why we push them so hard to learn so much. I am so proud of the important skills our boys are learning from their incredible leaders. Many of those kids probably saved the lives of their fellow scouts. The Governor said that the boys set up their own triage area long before the first responders arrived. God bless 'em...they are heroes. If you have ever been to a scout camp you know that it's "you and nature"...there was nowhere for them to go for safety and I'm sure they never saw it coming. My prayers go out to all the injured and to the families of the ones lost.
Proud of this group of young people. Our thoughts go out to each of them and their families as they deal with this. Sherry
We are also a scouting family. We got caught out in that horrible storm at Camp Tuscarora a few weeks ago. There but for the grace of God go I. I am also proud that these scouts were able to put into practice what they had learned. I am going to encourage DS to stay in scouting as long as possible.
That is the exact storm that came to my mind when I heard about this tragedy. There are no sturdy buildings at Camp "T" to seek shelter.
Nope, we didn't even have benefit of a tent. We were between the archery range and the campground when it hit, I've never actually been outdoors during a storm like that, hope I never am again.
Back in the old days when I was in the scouts, Tuscarora only had 3 really good hard-walled buildings. The dining hall, they had a camp office, and the OA building which sat next to a pond on the right shortly after entering the main gate. But then again that was back in the old days. And I can still remember the bevy of bugs that seemed to come out of no where during my stays there for summer camps. Craig
Oh! that reminds me of when we used to camp at Lake Arrowhead at MB. They used to have this truck that went around spraying some sort of bug/mosquito killer - and kids used to run along behind it  no telling what they were breathing in!
