Oh that's great! We all should plant more trees. If I had a *real* house I'd plant bunches of them!

I love the idea of planting trees ... especially free trees ... but I sure hope they are trees that dont require a lot of water to grow.

The earlier you get them in the ground, the better, to give them a chance to start to get established before hot weather. Actually, fall is the best time to plant trees. Any kind of tree will need at least an inch of rain a week or the equivalent for the first year. I use a 5-gallon bucket with a couple of small holes punched in the bottom, fill it up with water and let it gradually drain out. More water gets to the roots and less runs off.

I love the bucket idea. I might do that for my roses this year. I catch rain in the dogs' wading pool, then fill buckets with it to water the plants with ... I may make 'drip buckets' out of some of them. Thanks!

Ok . so I may be slightly ignerant. But where is the town hall.
I havn't been here long enough to find out. and the Idea of planting a tree is great. Since they keep knocking them down just to plant more houses and stores here in this area.:?:

One of the best things you can do for your roses is to get a 5 gallon bucket but a few small holes in the bottom and fill it about half full of chicken crap and set it in the srea of the roses. As it rains it will slowly seep through the crap and then leech into the ground providing the roses with the highly acidic fertilizer that they so love. Just be cause to not have too many holes or too big of a hole cause the chicken crap will burn the roses up if it is too strong too quick.

Hmmm, just what I want. My roses overwhelmed by the scent of chicken poop! j/k. I would do whatever it took to keep my roses healthy. Good tip, Mr. Gardener!
