Call me a girly man if you will (after a dozen years in the military, I run a machine shop and I even ride a moorsickle...), but this is still such a great movie! A love-and-loss story (even if it is girl/girl), a murder, a comedy, and the best performances ever by Mary Stuart Masterson, Mary-Louise Parker, Kathy Bates and (possibly) Jessica Tandy. I think I may be experiencing menopause...sniff... Edit: an' Cicely Tyson and many others...
I saw it a couple of months back for the first time with my wife. I enjoyed it. I even liked Steel Magnolias - there are a lot of funny moments in that movie.
That's one of those movies I'd rank up there with To Kill A Mockingbird for its depth of character and storyline. Great movie. "You don't fool me girlie girl"...while being fed man barbecue.
:iagree: with those 2. Forest Gump Fried Green Tomatoes Steel magnolias Break out the tissues. All AWESOME movies.
Funny that you mentioned this because my husband recently saw this for the first time and he loved it. He kept asking me questions about it and I made him wait till the end to find out. Steel Magnolias is the best movie eva, right along with Christmas Vacation.
I haven't seen it but once and that was ages ago. Will have to rent it again. LOVE Steel Magnolias though, seen it 20 times and still bawl like a baby.
There are a lot of good quotes from that movie....I use one of them from time to time...remember when the one of the ladies said something about a woman dancing..."Looks like two pigs fighting under a blanket". I could watch that movie a thousand times along with: Dirty Dancing Overboard How to lose a guy in 10 days Hope Floats My Girl
Love All of those. I can't even begin to count how many times Forest Gump has been replayed at my house
