I am shopping for digital cameras. I have a Kodak Easyshare 4.0. I will either get a camera for my son to take to Europe, or get myself a newer model and give him my old one. I don't know much about pixels and whatnot. I have found an Easyshare 12.0 on craigslist for 135.00. On the Walmart website, I found an 8.2 Easyshare bundle pack - for 150.00. Am I going to notice much of a diff between 12.0 & 8.2? Heck, either one would be an improvement for me, right? And there are several other Easyshares with varying mps for under 100.00 still all higher mp than mine. And lastly, any other place I can get a good deal on an Easyshare without having to go into the Evil Empire.
Target has a good selection.Got dd a nice small/flat one for her trip and an extra memory card. She leaves Mon (got to be at airport at 8:15am), when does your ds leave?
2:15. That's why I lke the Easyshare, nice & compact. I'm not a hobbyist, I just like to take pics of the fam and ghosties.
At least y'all get to sleep in a little  - figure with AM traffic, we need to leave the house at 6:45, meaning have to get up at 5:30am...ugh! Yea - love Easyshare - we have 3 at our house, that way we can all use the same software.
Have ya'll heard of Best Buy's RETURN Policy? I'll never shop there again. Tiger direct - hate them. Target E-Bay maybe one of them?
I've never had a problem at Best Buy, what is wrong with their return policy? Or has it just recently been changed to something crappy, Target has a pee-poor return policy, I know that!
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3698368&CatId=3617 This looks like a decent deal, and the reviews I read were OK. But refurbished? Do I want to go there? And this one does not come with the nimh battery (I can get it seperately I guess) but how do AA batteries fare with digital cameras? And lastly.. how big of a mem card should I get? I have a 512mb card in mine, and have about 465 pics on it right now - so I have no clue! 20 days in Europe, should I just send my 512mb card with him?
You could fit everything I know about digital cameras in a thimble, but I do know that they EAT UP AA batteries like crazy. The next one I buy will have the other kind of batteries. I think I would opt for a bigger card too.
The problem was returning something "without" a receipt (this happened to my mother who was returning an item for a friend). She was perfectly understanding to the fact that, she didn't have a receipt so they would more than likely give her the last sale price on the item, and that it would probably be put on a store gift card, she knew she would not get a credit to the credit card, or cash. BUT.. the real kicker was, she could only use the credit she was given to purchase an item from the same department. She, nor I, can understand why it shouldn't be spendable from any dept. in the store, OR online. She hasn't stepped foot in a Target since, and I only do if I'm purchasing items I'm certain I'm not returning. Anyways... thats all that was.
I got an Easyshare in Feb. to replace my dying Cannon that I've had for years. The Easyshare works okay but compared to the Cannon does poorly in indoor or poor lighting situations. When I can find a good deal I'll be going back to a Cannon.
Cleo, Sorry that I missed this Thread earlier as I think your son is in the air as I type. I bought my daughter hers at Best Buy with the warranty. Everyone I spoke too said the higher the pixel the better the picture. We went mid-range. Bought her the digital camera with video and carrying case for around $150.00 for Christmas. Your son has a wonderful family that will support him in his quest to learn about all cultures. He is lucky, he seems smart and what an excellent program that he is traveling with. If, at any time, you need me please PM or email. He will be a long way away from his Mama and Mama needs to know that we understand what it is like to let them spread their wings. He is visiting the most wonderful countries and I am positive that he will represent the United States of America well. Sherry
It may depend on the brand of camera. But with my Kodak easyshare, I have it set where I don't use the large 'live view' finder on the back, instead I use the small view finder (like an old camera) and my batteries last for months. Not using the 'live view' will save battery usage.
Cleo - I'm only sending two 128mb cards, plus whatever her internal storage holds - hopefully will be enough! She's so excited - been packing all day...
We are still doing laundry and griping because Mom wants the room spotless before he goes, started to mow and then it rained for two minutes. Tomorrow is packing and Monday is p/u last-minute items. Anyway, I think I will just send my camera with him with the 512 mb card and rechargable nimh battery pack... and pick up myself a nice Canon while he is gone!
Other than the fact that you currently already have one (there is a reason they are cheap), I'd personally spend a little extra money, and buy a newer, decent camera for yourself (Canon, Sony, etc.) Craig
