I'm interested in hearing any opinions or experiences anyone may have had in comparison of GCAA baseball and Garner baseball. Trying to decide between the two and don't know which way to go. Thanks.
GBI is very serious baseball. The coaches are trained and the kids really learn the game. We have never done GCAA but we have done Clayton Little League and Clayton Parks and Rec and GBI is so much better than those. GBI is a big commitment of $ and time but if you have a kid who is really into baseball it is worth it. GBI is not for the casual player in my opinion. Practices are 1 1/2 hours and you will be at the fields at least three times a week. Some games START at 8:00 on school nights. For my family it is worth "living at the fields" we like the competition and that the boys are playing real ball.
I agree that GBI is more competitive. GCAA is a great program that offers sports for the non competitive children. They have recently started a competitive team that you have to try out for. But it is according to what floats your boat.
I wanted to clarify that you child does not have to be a fabulous ball player to play with GBI--my kids are not--they do however need to have a love for the game. This is not a league for out field flower pickers. Players at any skill level will be taught and given a change to play. If your kid really wants to play ball sign him up--if you just want an activity choose another league.
