Anyone from there or have visited that can tell me the "must see / do" things in and around the city.

We're going for vacation later this year and want to do some exploring ... but also stay away from the questionable things / areas.

    Thanks much! MN

Check to see what festivals are going on in Millennium Park and definitely check out a Cubs day game.

Field Museum, Museum of Science and Industry, Shedd Aquarium, Planitarium. Sears Tower, Michigan Ave, Wrigley Field, Deep Dish Pizza (original Pizera Uno). If you have kids there is a Lego store on Michigan Ave area. Field Museum, Aquarium and Planetarium are all within walking distance.

Walk along lake front, Grant Park.

    Chicago

Navy Pier on Lake Michigan...tons of things to do (for all ages) 50 acres of shopping, boat tours, carnival type rides, shows, dining (outdoor too) gardens, promenades, entertainment, music and fireworks...you could spend the better part of the day there. Spend as much $$ or as little as you want... It's close to everything downtown .....on Illinois Street I believe...have fun! Also, Old Town is worth a stop....shops, dining, nightclubs, music, artists, etc. Great city to visit.....don't leave without trying the pizza!

Well, some advice my daddy gave me about going to big cities was if your going to talk to women-folk always check the size of the adams apple... but I guess this advice wouldn't apply in ya'lls case.

    Have fun!

My mom and I went to Chicago a couple of years ago on a missions trip with about 100 other people from our conference. I strongly suggest the boat tour at the Navy Pier! It was very relaxing and quite interesting..and our tour guide was very entertaining as well. I can't remember his name though. If I could, I'd suggest him! Lots of history surrounding Chicago! Happy Hunting!:jester:

I'm originally from Chicago and the great parts have already been touched on!!!
Definitely Cubs/Wrigley, pizza (Lou Malnatis or Gino's East are the best), ribs (Carsons) and if you get a chance-Greektown.
The museums are fabulous-I think better than D.C. There is Brookfield Zoo and Lincoln Park Zoo. You can get passes to go to all of them on a 7 day period I think. Musuem of Science and Industry is south, so you may want to stay with the Shedd Aquarium, and all that is mid-town.
There is SO much to do. Navy Pier, there is a boat tour you can take. You could spend a month there and not see everything!!!!
I would stay away from the South Side (Sox Park is there). The North Side is safer.
It will be expensive, but well worth it.
    Have a great time!!!!!!!!
