 So how was that Sarah speech? As of this posting it hasn't occurred yet. Based on your post I would guess you haven't seen the rest of the convention either.
Put down the mind altering substances. I haven't heard how the ISSUES will be addressed. You know, the ones facing most Americans: home foreclosures, escalating fuel costs, the loss of jobs to overseas, corporate welfare, Iraq...and others. I hear a lot of gladhanding from a mutual admiration society, but no real plans for addressing issues. So, cording to you folks, the Dems were rock star celebs, and one shouldn't expect much. From the party of serious people, one should expect answers. What gives?
Fred kicked butt last night, and Sarah kicked butt tonight. Liberal heads everywhere are imploding. They are terrified. What a great night!
Can liberals find anything they liked about it? The Obama response was that it was written by Bush's speechwriter. As if the Democrat politician's speeches were all written by them alone. Republicans had no trouble giving props to Hill and Obama when they gave good speeches, even though we don't buy what they were saying, but from what I saw on MSDNC and the few lib blogs I scanned tonight, they either were completely negative or they qualified the positive things about the speech that could not be denied with snarky digs. The American people heard this one. (Thanks to attacks from the left this week.) The media can only spin it so much when people hear it with their own ears. Many on the left are living in another world where their hatred for Bush and the GOP makes it impossible for them to even acknowledge a great speech. They may be in for a surprise when they find that in spite of their best effort and the nastiest attacks I have ever seen (incest, fake pregnancy, etc.) they can't make American hate Sarah Palin. If they don't get control of their anger, those swing voters that are still on the fence are going to feel it and they are not typically swayed by partisan hate. This was not a state of the union speech. It was a speech to introduce Palin to the country and to outline the way Republicans would address the issues of the day -- to share a philosophy. She did so in the same terms that those on the left did, except Obama who did a bit of the laundry list thing. She did the thing a VP speech is supposed to do. She took shots at the other side. She talked up the top of the ticket. She outlined what a McCain presidency would look like and she energized supporters unlike anything I have seen since Reagan. What specifically should she have said or done that she didn't?
I hear the sound of a McCain bounce after tonight's delivery by Gov. Palin and Rudy. Thompson's candor last night was the mix, Guiliani did the baking and Palin iced the cake.
The ONLY person addressing the issues head on is Bob Barr...keep voting Demopublican,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,SHEEP
there was never a doubt she was going to and did kick some butt, I didn't need to wait till she was done we knew she was the right one for the job and as the days fly by it will be more and more clear Big John knew what the h*ll he was doing picking her.
Take out your ear plugs and remove the blinders because they all hit on the issues and some of their plans on doing it.
You can throw around insults all well and good. Please post here what events the Independent Party has planned right here in Johnston County for the voters to participate in and learn about the Independent Party. The Republican Party has had a booth at all major Festivals throughout the county since early this year. I believe the only Festival the Democratic Party missed was the Krusin' Kenly Festival, but they've basically participated at every major Festival. Both the Republican and Democratic Party will have headquarters here in Johnston County for their voters to contact and offer to volunteer. These 2 parties continue to give their local voters a visible Party. I, personally, have yet to be aware of the Johnston County folks who are Independents and support people like Bob Barr be visible for their portion of the voters. You can't continue to run all over the internet and post an insult without giving local folks a visible Party. Slap that bumper sticker on, post that blog entry, leave that post on the public forums but you need to give your local voters a visible tangible Party. just my own personal two cents....
actually they aren't. Her speech was lame compared to Biden. I'm just saying.... Ditto being 'Independant' I do like her though....she has a great story/history
I agree that some of those attacks are beyond the pale and cast the attackers themselves in a pretty bad light, just let me point out that for the most part they do not come from the mainstream of the Democratic party. The Republican party has its own nutcase fringe, and I will try not to blame all Republicans for the crap they come up with. Palin delivered a good speech, and I think she hit all the points she needed to. One of the commentators last night said it was almost like two speeches; there was her personal narrative, and then there were the partisan points. I agreed with that analysis, as I was watching it seemed to me that she took a speech that was prepared for a generic VP candidate and added her own points to it. Obviously, as a Democrat and an Obama supporter, I disagreed with many of the partisan points. Would anyone expect anything different?
Thanks for noticing that the Dems have been at all the festivals! Actually, I think Bob Barr is the candidate of the Libertarian Party, not the Independent Party. The Libertarians have just recently qualified as a party again, and they now have 858 registered voters in NC.
