It is sooo sad. I have wanted to stop numerous times lately and know I can't stop. It really makes me sad that I cant help a fellow person.

:iagree: I did stop and just cracked my window to ask an elderly man if he needed me to call someone for him. He had a cell phone, which brings up a valid point. Almost everyone has one these days so I don't feel quite as bad about not stopping.

:iagree: but sometimes their phone might be dead or can't get a signal, especially out here in some locations!

I've passed stranded motorists and dialed *HP and told them the motorist's location before, without ever stopping. In this day and age I'm afraid it's too darn dangerous to stop, especially if the kids are with me.

I cant count the amount of times I have stopped to help and never had a problem. Alot of people have forgotten their cell, dont have one, etc. This is just a case of one bad apple trying to spoil the whole bunch. I wouldnt suggest my wife stop to help, but being a guy I feel OK doing it.

I have noticed that guys will trip over themselves when its a damsel in distress, especially if she's a cutie.

    Clif,

If I can really see that someone needs help (accident, flat tire, etc), I absolutely will and have, stop to help. DH has done it as well, but a car off the side of the road with just the hood up on a major hwy, nope, sorry. Not going to happen, especially if my kid is in the car. I would call HP so they can send someone to check on them, but I am not stopping myself, it's simply not safe for a female alone to do such a thing.

:? And I get killed/robbed/stabbed/raped in the process - no thanks. I'll explain it to the Lord when I see him.

You can't seriously suggest that a woman BY HERSELF should stop for some dude on the side of the road in 2008???? Seriously???
