Clayton Middle Teacher Named Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year

CLAYTON-- Lance Gooden, an eighth grade Algebra and Math teacher at
Clayton Middle School, has been named Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year.

The corporation hosts the annual recognition and names the honoree
based on nominations from parents, students, and faculty. A celebration
was held Monday at the school. Gooden also received a $1,000 to spend
    on classroom materials.

His principal, Debbie Woodruff, says the honor is well-deserved.

"He is as good as they get," said Woodruff.
