Ryan's Hope Bake Sale & fundraiser will be held Nov. 11th in the Mt. Zion Church parking lot from 9:00am-1:00pm.

In June 2006 2 year old Ryan McClymonds a Cleveland area resident, was diagnosed with stage IV Neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma is a form of cancer that occurs in infants and young children. The cells of this cancer usually resemble very primitive developing nerve cells found in an embryo or fetus. It is rarely found in children older than 10 years.

Ryan has a large tumor that grew from his adrenal gland and covers the top portion of his left kidney and misplaced his large intestine. The tumor then spread to a secondary spot in his tibia.

Ryan’s treatments will consist of six cycles of intense chemotherapy, done as inpatient at Duke University Hospital, including a stem cell harvest early on, surgery towards the end to remove the tumor, and then the final chemo, wiping out his bone marrow and then transplanting his stem cells.

As you may know, health insurance will only cover a portion of the cost of Ryan’s treatments. During the final treatment of wiping out his bone marrow and transplanting his stems cells, Ryan and his mother will need to be within 10 minutes of the Duke University Hospital as this stage is very crucial to Ryan’s immune system. This will require them to live away from the rest of their family for six months adding to the family’s growing financial stress.

Please help support Ryan in the fight for his life by Participating in the Fundraiser, Ryans Hope. On November 11th a bake sale will be held to raise money for Ryan’s family. Thank you for your support, we hope to see you there.

That's awful. I feel so bad for the little guy and his family. Where is Mt. Zion church? Do you know if they need baked goods donated?

I doubt they would turn any donations away. Lots of neighbors are cooking to contribute to the effort. I hope there are lots of hungry folks out there to eat up all the goodies. The more the merrier.

Mt. Zoin is near the intersection of Hwy 42 & Hwy 50 near the entrance to the Chadbourne Subdivision.

I've never posted a picture out here - so hopefully this works. This is a picture of Ryan.

We have a full day ahead of us tomorrow, but I will try to run by there first thing in the morning. If not, do they have an account set-up for donations?

A medical fund has been set up for Ryan if anyone would like to make a donation and can not get to the bake sale.

You can go to ANY Bank of America and donate the Ryan McClymonds Medical Fund.

Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks for offering to donate!

I'll have to make a donation ... cant hit the bake sale (probably a good thing, for my tummy) since I'm in RTP today. I wish cancer and such evil diseases could be age discriminant and leave children alone!!! Not that I wish it on ANYONE - but to see small children, with their whole lives ahead of them ... I WILL NOT sit here at work and cry. :(

If I haven't said it lately - I sure do like where I live. The people around here are wonderful. When I went to the bake sale this morning there were people everywhere & lots of donated yummies. The bake sale was a success. Most of the folks around here sure do have big, kind, caring hearts :)
