After the last big Swine Flu scare in the 70's, I probably would shy away from making this stuff, under these rushed conditions, without immunity.

I watched the show he did on 60 minutes last week. It was pretty scary stuff and really felt for those who received the swine flu vaccine and had such neurological damage. I would opt out personally from the vaccine just due to the fact that I'm severely allergic to the regular flu vaccine. It's #'s still are not that abnormal compared to the regular flu. I know they expect it to mutate & cause possibly more severe symptoms. I think if folks actually stayed home when they are sick instead of working or going to school, it owuld help. Burns me up when they send kids to school sick. When I used to work, people would come to the office sick as a dog. Didn't know what htey had to prove but I would wipe ALL surfaces w/ alcohol every Friday. Others started doing the same & I think finally, folks got the hint. Keep the flu at bay...if you're sick, please STAY AWAY!!! Goign to be an interesting flu season in school, I'm sure. How many of you on here would get the vaccine out of curiosity?

I agree Ab, nothing irritated more when I worked than the sick martyrs - esp in the age of laptops and conference calls.

I have to say that we've sent our son to school before, unknowingly with strep. He's not a complainer unless he really feels bad, plus he loves school so he isn't not usually excited about staying home. Even when he was little though, he'd have an occasional ear infection and we wouldn't know it unless he'd say something like "you sound funny."

The way I understand, these pharmacutical companies don't make a lot of money off of flu vaccines and there's little incentive to enter the market. Perhaps that's another reason why the government is moving to protect these companies so that more will produce a vaccine. I'd say its of greater benefit that more than just one or two companies produces a vaccine because if one company's supplies are found to be tainted, there are other suppliers.
