Well, you guys know by now that I keep ending up with critters.... I just got 17 hamsters. (10 are newborns) So.... anyone needing a new friend? I have adults, adolescents and little guys.

They are not the big teddy bear kind. They are a smaller dwarfish type. (I dont know too much about hamsters!!!)

:) I had a Chinese Dwarf - a co-worker many moons ago had gotten the little bugger for her daughter who was 5 and she said she was afraid for the hamsters' life. . .the kid wasn't a bad child, she just couldn't seem to fathom that this creature is to be dealt with very gently - anyway, home it came with me. She was pretty cool and amusing to watch. I don't know how old she was when we got her, a few months at the very least - she looked like a tiny chimpmunk - she lived with us for two years, woke up one morning and she had passed :-(

I'd take one, IF I didn't have cats - I'd never be able to leave the house worrying if was being served as an appetizer.

Sigh.. come on folks. You can lock them in the bathroom when you leave, they are nocturnal anyway.

I sent the three nicest "adolescents" to the shelter to be adopted, that leaves me with the studly male, one lone female and then 2 females with a million babies each. The babies will be nice and friendly when weaned, I cant stop going in there to play with them. (even if mom does bite me every time.)

Someone offered to take them for snake food!!!

L, if only you had posted this a week earlier I could have taken some off of your hands, but I just got the kids a pair of female gerbils each. (That means I got 6 of 'em!) Sorry, no more room for rodents here.

You can pick up a used cage at a yard sale/good will. Alot of people use an old fish tank with a lid.

They need a wheel, water bottle and some sort of something to hide in. (amd food).

Let me know when you decide! :)

Hamsters make fun, nice pets ... I grew up with them. I've thought about getting more for YEARS now, but there's just too much going on in my household (aka: I'm trying to learn and accept my limits. Yeah. Right. *grin*).

Yeah!!! No rush, they are fine here, I am just feeling a bit overwhelmed. (and I think with 6 cages full, my house is begining to smell!!)

Let me know when you are ready and you can come meet them and pick them out. Maybe you would want a mom with babies, keep a baby or two and give back mom and the rest?? That way you can hand raise your own baby? :-D

If anyone else wants a mom and babies temporarily, it really is cool and my kids have loved watching them!!! I honestly will take them back when they are bigger... (or if you want them just for a week etc...)

lj....very tempting. I'd love to hand-raise, but my new Angelina would find a way to eat them. She even chases flies. I'd hate to take them only to end up as the snack of the day. I've seen her get into just about anything....and I doubt she'll be kept out of a closed room. She's a pretty crafty cat when there's prey around...

I may be able to talk DH into fostering a mom and babies for you. I have a huge aquarium that we gave up using for fish. We almost got a hairless rat, but we found out that the lifespan is only a little under 2 years....I get too attached. Same with the lil' rodents...lifespan is too short...lemme talk to hubby!
