Hi: Just wondering if anyone has been to Hard Rock amusement park in Myrtle Beach with kids? I have a 6 yr old and I'm a little hesitant to spend all that money just to get into the park. I have been on their website and they do have rides specifically for his height and age, but I really wanted to hear what others think. Thanks!
I haven't been there yet, but one of my coworker went there and said that he was disappointed with the outcome. The park is small and nothing too exciting. They do have roller coaster, which might be too extreme for the little one. It cost $50 dollars to get in and he felt it was a waste of money.
If you have the money to spend go for it. I've been taking my daughter to concerts since she was five and would take her to this unless it is a rip off as the poster stated. I've never been but sounds like fun. We love to eat at the restaurant. Have Fun, Sherry
Is this the new one that just opened last month? Some friends just went and it seems like they said there wasn't much for younger kids, but I could be wrong. They have a 6 & 8 yo, and I think they were saying their kids were find, but younger than that would have been tough. I'll see if I can find out for you and post back. When are you thinking about going?
They have a website ..www.hardrockpark.com that might give you more insight on the park itself and if there are any kiddie rides and such . If you do go have a blast !
The website says there is a discount for NC and SC residents, all you have to do is show a valid ID and its only $39 to get in.
We went 2 weeks ago and it is by far the worst theme park you can attend. It is pricey and only half of the rides were operating. They only have a few rides to begin with and the shows were not that good either. Half of the things to do inside makes you pay $5 to do and the staff were not very friendly. The only good thing I have to say is that the lines were small for the Zepplin. That was a good roller coaster. You will make your way around the park in less than an hour. I would spend my money and day at Family Kingdom in Myrtle Beach. Much cheaper and more rides for the family. We regretted the decision to attend Hard Rock in lieu of Family Kingdom. Just my 2 cents.
Honestly, till Hard Rock has been open a season or two I'd personally head to either King's Dominion, Carowinds, or my personal choice Bush Garden's in Williamsburg. Both Carowinds, and Kings Dominion, are about the same distance time wise as Hard Rock. Craig
We went to Busch Garden's last year without the kids, and didn't see much to do for the little ones. We have a 2, 5 & 8 yo, so were glad we didn't have them with us at the time. Just went to MB last week, and Family Kingdom was by far the best time we had, there were a lot of things for the kids to do there, a lot of rides for even the littlest one to do, everyone agreed that was the best money spent out of all the places we went...Don't waste your time going to Nascar speedpark, that place was boring!
Hard Rock was a blast for my family! I usually don't post on here, but I just had to for this thread. My family of 5 went to the Hard Rock Park last Wednesday. I have a 14, 9 and 7 year old. My 14 year old took a friend her age with her. They both loved the park and found things to do all day. There were tons of things for kids of all ages to enjoy. We all had a blast. They had smaller coasters and larger ones. One of the coaster rides had water guns placed on the ground so people could shoot you with water as you passed, but you had to be carful, the water could turn on you. They also had a small water park for the young at heart with a large water bucket that tipped when it filled up. They had great shows. There were some different things there you won't find at the larger parks. I could not get my younger kids out of this huge garage where everyone (kids and adults) use air guns to shoot each other with sponge balls. There is a rock climbing wall and a place where they harness you up and you can walk tight ropes and rope bridges. The staff was all very helpful and friendly. The park was not crowded at all. We could go right up to any ride and get on with with little or no wait. The Roadie Stunt show was great. The day ended with an awesome fire works and laser show on the lake in the middle of the park. This is a must see. The park is new and I am sure it has some kinks to work out, but we would like to go back. You can get a discount for living in North and South Carolina until the end of June.
My family went in May. We had a great time and the kids enjoyed it. If your child is at least 46inches tall then he/she should be alright to ride most of everything except for Zepplin. My 6 yr old had a blast, but a child any shorter would be bored out of their mind! They need to make some more money and add on to the park quite a bit but they had to start somewhere.
There is so much more to do at MB if the amusement park doesnt suite you. I highly recommend MagiQuest: www.magiquest.com Medieval Times: http://www.medievaltimes.com/home.aspx Alligator adventure: www.alligatoradventure.com Nascar Speed Park: www.nascarspeedpark.com Myrtle Waves (if you like waterparks): www.myrtlewaves.com Ripleys aquarium: www.ripleysaquarium.com There's also a ton of putt-putt places all throughout MB. Personally speaking, you can probably do the majority of the things I just listed for the price of two tickets to the amusement park. Make sure you check out their websites, some offer coupons and AAA discounts. Good luck!
Just my opinion: We have 3 boys, 8 and under, and didn't enjoy Nascar speedpark. They weren't running the kiddie rides, so there was absolutely nothing the youngest could do, except go on the bumber boats with us (which we did). Our oldest, who used to race go karts here at Joco speedway, was too short to race any of go karts except one, but they were all very slow, and he was bored. Hubby said my son could have driven any kart out there, no problem, but height restrictions wouldn't let him. My hubby was racing them by himself with one hand, that's how slow they were, and the other people he was racing with (not with us, just were all going around the park at the same time) were all saying the same thing - the cars were boring) My 5 yo who is not much of a thrill seeker didn't have much to do either, there was one set of cars he could have driven, but wouldn't, and I think one set of cars he could have ridden with an adult but wouldn't. Arcade was fun, but expensive. The next night we discovered Family Kingdom park, it was a little cheaper but much more to do, a lot more rides, tons to do for smaller kids, and the go karts there were much faster, hubby had a blast! Still nothing for my son to race though, that was a bummer. He's into speed, hard to find go-karts up to his speed...:jester:
Bummer! I was down there about 10 years ago and the kiddie rides were open. They must have changed since then. To the original poster, I suggest that before you go into ANY attraction, check to see what rides are open/closed before you pay for a ticket.
I'm planning on going but was hoping to find a place to stay that didn't cost and arm and leg.... i bought the tickets before the park opened..lol i like the Hard Rock.
