Anyone know anything about this area? Is it okay? I just want to avoid any the drug/crime ridden areas of course. Looking for my mom and possibly my 19 yr old brother who may move with her. On the map is looks like if your heading towards Rt 70 on Rt 50, you turn left onto Timber Drive pass Aversboro Road. Thanks for info or opionions. -K
Heather Hills used to be a very nice subdivision but I don't think it is these days. It's a pretty old subdivision, at least 40 years old, and you know what happens to a lot of areas as the houses get old. IMO, Garner itself is becoming pretty trashy looking.
It's still a pretty good neighborhood. I grew up there, and live now in a community which backs up to HH. The houses are older, but still a pretty good place in Garner to live. (Some streets are nicer than others... if you have an address, let me know and I'll scope it out for you.)
It is one of the nicer neighborhoods in the actual town of Garner, but there are some not so nice neighborhoods not too far away. Be wary of too many cars parked in the driveway, things up on blocks, and grass that isn't consistently mowed and yards not maintained. It is definitely an aging subdivision, and the houses are not ones that are high end houses in the first place so they aren't all aging gracefully. Garner has some other comparable neighborhoods off of Aversboro/Buffaloe Rd towards Lake Benson.
I grew up there too on Brucemont! The subdivision is an older one, but in the grand scheme of things it is still not too bad. You can contact the Garner PD on their website and request for them to run a query of the crimes in the neighborhood. I have included a link for you: http://www.ci.garner.nc.us/police/forms/cfs_request.asp Good luck!
Agree with you guys! It is an older community but it is not in a crime area or anything like that. The people seem pretty nice and keep up their homes nicely too. The mayor of Garner lives out there so it is not too bad LOL. I personally think that Garner is not too bad looking over all either, especially compared to many other towns and they are trying to make new shops and so on on Avesboro Rd too! Plus one mile down the road on Avesboro the homes are $350 to $500 +....
HH I grew up there too and loved it. I have lots of friends who lived there that I am still close with and my parents lived there up until 5 years ago. It's not bad, but alot of the houses have turned into rentals. JP
Very true about more & more rentals... Be careful that the street you/they look at is not over >25% rental. When that % gets higher things just do not look as good.
