Mine didn't really ask for them, but I got him a pair on sale the day after Thanksgiving at Dick's Sporting Goods, hope he likes them! He's at a tough age to buy for this year........................
Wish I had known they were on sale the day after Thanksgiving. MM wants a pair and the cheapest I can find them in a women's size is 59.99. Which is a crock if you ask me. Her feet grow so fast, she'll be out of them in no time!
A search shows no actual recall for Heely's, but WATCH (World Against Toys Causing Harm) lists them on thier 2006 "10 Worst Toys" List
My son got a pair last summer. (Thanks Gramma & Grampa!!). They are all the rage on the West Coast. He wears them pretty often.
Yeah, I seen a lady in Sams Club yelling at some kids for skating around in there. The kids' parents looked at the lady like she was crazy.
BJ's has a big sign prohibiting the use of these in their stores. Hello - WAREHOUSE! Big boxes stacked up... Oh, and I'm just waiting for my son to get his wheels confiscated from him at school. He SAYS he doesn't bring them to school.... When they do, I will laugh and tell his teacher to toss them. 8)
funny that this came up...the lil girl kept running into me at the mall. At first I didn't notice that she had the rollers on...and I kept asking what is her problem and if she was ok. But she just got those sneakers and she was still learning how to use them....lol I hope she doesn't break a leg.
Seen kids using them and I personally think they should be regulated to outside recreational area use. They are just making the kids lazier than they already are. Now they can take a could of steps every once in a while and move along instead of actual walking to where they need to go. As if the kids now days needed anything else to make them alittle lazier. Yea I was at the Golden Corrall the other night and some kid kept skating back and forth in front of all the buffett lines. It was kind of annoying. I was expecting seeing him knock into someone with a plate of food. I was half tempted to stick my leg out when he came skating by with an ice cream cone, just to watch him land on the ice cream, but that would of been totally im-mature of me, but would of been a good belly laugh for my insides. But i agree they should be regulated for outside use only and not for indoor use
They could very well be harmful. The next time I'm in a restaurant and some out of control kidlet comes whizzing along on shoes with wheels and almost knocks the tray out of my hand as I'm walking to my table...as happened last week.... ...he may very well come to some harm.
My son is begging for them, so Santa is bringing them. I've seen kids around using them, and abusing them. I totally agree they can be a nuisance in malls, restaurants, etc. Once again, it falls back on being the responsibility of the parents to educate their children on manners in using them, don't cha think? I'm going to do my best on that one.
Nope skating isn't lazy, nor is rollerblading. I've done both (though not in several years). But plain and simple when we rollerskated we had a special place for it not some mall or resturant, or warehouse store. When I would rollerblade I either did it outside, or in the confines of the warehouse (afterhours and on weekends) I managed. Never had to worry about getting in anyone elses way (except Brenda) when rollerblading. But hey maybe it's just me and the way I was reared, but there are places for these things and a busy mall or inside a resturant is not it. And yes compared to skating or rollerblading these are LAZY Craig
Why do you allow your kids to be lazy? They won't learn the value of hard work if you don't expect them to do it.
correction.. we don't have any. Thanks. Anyways... little girl in Lowes Foods had some on last night and bumped into an older woman who was going along partially propped on her shopping cart. Startled the old woman, and I can only imagine if she hadn't been propped on the cart, the child might have knocked her down. I did mutter something about rollerskates being an outside amusement when I was growing up and loud enough for the mother to overhear and I got a dirty look... OH WELL ... "pay closer attention to you children" was my reply as I continued on.
I can see where they would be fun, but if the child trips someone or falls and splits their head open then what?
