My hot water heater has sprung a leak on the pipe coming out of it. We have shut the water off to it but the line running out is spraying up under the house. We rent, so this has to go through our landlord. If you know of anyone that is reliable, please have them call us or get us their number ASAP! Our number is 919-522-9047.
Just wondering if DiamondLady got her hot water heater fixed? I have been trying to correct a gas hot water heater problem for over 8 months. The water heater was discharging about a quart of water out the temperature-pressure relief valve (pop-off valve) pipe each day. Hot water temperature in house was only 120 degrees. I have been through two plumbers, replaced the pop-off valve three times and the Thermal Expansion Tank twice. Rheem (manufacturer) finally suggested that I check our water pressure in house. It was 55 psi. Then they advised I had to have 65 psi air pressure in the Thermal Expansion Tank. Both tanks installed were set at 40 psi. Finally I had the second plumber to come out and with a air pressure gauge and a bicycle tire air pump we put 65 psi air pressure in the Thermal Expansion Tank. One week later I have no water discharge. I have my fingers crossed. Wish me luck. I need it! Neither plumber had ever put additional air pressure in a Thermal Expansion Tank. Both plumbers came highly recommended, one by my hot water heater manufacturer (Rheem). Go fiigure!
Water heater.. Probably a little late, but if you shut off the water heater supply line, you should also shut off the electricity to the heater.
