It's 7:00am, and I've been up since 5:00. We found the 3rd hornet in a month, here in the house. My daughter woke up and went into the kitchen to get a drink of water, and found it in the kitchen. She then woke me up. I am terrified of these things and I'm afraid they have built a nest in the attic or the walls. They are huge...and based on the one I have here in a baggie and pics on the internet, it is a European Hornet. Does anyone have any recommendations on an exterminator? And any idea what kind of cost I may be looking at here to check the house? I need someone out here quick.
I don't know of one, but do you know where the nest is? If so spray it with good wasp killer stuff lol..sorry..I feel you here..I was just sitting here last night late. I guess when I walked the dogs I had this big ol spider a little bigger then a quarter crawling down my right arm..you have never seen anyone moves so fast and torn off all my clothes lol..it was a site. I killed it, but man I was messed up hehe...I hope you can figure out how to kill these guys..I have never been stung by a hornet before, but hear it's painful..I know they won't bother you if you don't bother them.. Sheri
We had them last year bad around our front porch, huge and swarming everywhere. We called an exterminator and they said they couldn't do anything until we found the nest. That is just how I want to spend my time, searching for a hornet's nest. So my hubby threw bug bombs everywhere and the fall came and killed them. Haven't seen any around the house this year, I find them dead in the pool, but I can handle them dead. Good luck with this, we were ready to loose our minds last summer.
We had 'em too. Called an exterminator who happened to hate the buggers but managed to eliminate them, no problem. When in doubt, hire a professional!
Well, I got up this morning and found that the kitchen window (which is ancient) is not closed all the way. The upper part will not close all the way...it's painted open. The opening is about 1 inch all the way across. Geesh. I guess the darned things are attracted to the light in the kitchen and coming in through the opening at the top of the window. The first sighting of 2 of them have been sitting on the blind of this window in the kitchen. I have lots of trees in the back yard, and no desire to go hunting for the damned nest. Guess I'll try to find a way to either get the window closed or block that opening.
oh......my........God. I would be in the psych ward about now. I would have slept in the car...LOLOLOL I hope it is just the window that they were getting in at so that you can maybe rig something until you can get it fixed to keep them out.
