Anyone know a home remedy on how to get rid of poison ivy rash? My DS and I have it all over from clearing out our ditch. We had sprayed the ditch with weed killer and then set it on fire after it all died, but still managed to get rapped up in it. Thinking about going to Urgent Care to get a shot for both of us!

best thing to do is get the shot....steroids, what ever they will give you. Topical, use the benedryl spray, its expensive but it works.

Yeah, that might work for me, but not for my 10 year old ;)

  7. make it JD and water over ice. It will dilute it and it may not cure the iching but he will sleep through it.

Or can use the old fashioned remedy of a shot of 10 year old Brandy

Get your MD to write a script for Clobetasol (topical cream). I never go a summer without it.

If you don't like shots, the doctor can also give you pill-form steroids.

Knock on wood, I've never in my life had a reaction to poison ivy or sumac. Which is weird, since I seem to be allergic to everthing single thing else left in the world aside from those plants.

An oatmeal and goats milk bath won't make it go away...but it can really help soothe your skin after all that irritation and itching.

  13. Me too! how weird, I have every nasal allergy available, allergic to two antibiotic groups, but not the contact poison in plants!

Steroid pills are the best way to go.
