My child is doing a project on Honduras for school. I would love to send in some authentic Honduran food as part of it, but school rules do not allow homemade. Does anyone know where I could purchase some Honduran food?

    Thanks in advance! :?:

There was an international store at 40/42 on the corner of the plaza next to Bojangles. Not sure if it is still there, or has what you are looking for, but when I went in they had stuff from several different countries.

I cant remember the name, sorry.

My friend from work's husband is from Honduras. In fact, he is visiting in Honduras right now! I'll ask her about where to buy food when I see her at a birthday party Saturday if that's not too late. Anything else you would want me to ask her?

(I'm the wife by the way. I don't usually reply. I just read! Hope that's ok)

There was a Salvadoran restaurant south of the convention center. Close enough.

I talked to my friend today who's married to a man from Hondouras. She didn't know of a store that sells Hondouran food but she gave me the name of a Hondouran restaurant she says is good in Selma. Maybe your family could eat there and your child could include the experience in his report. It's called Alondra. The address is 308 S Pollack St. Selma 27576.
Their phone number is 975-0909. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the ideas everybody! I think we will head to the restaurant you mentioned, Dangerboy. That sounds like a great thing to include!

Just thought I would follow up on this. We just got back from Alondra's, the Honduran restaurant in Selma. I admit we went with a bit of trepidation, but were very pleased! It's a small nondescript brick building, so we were a little nervous about going in. However, once we got inside we were impressed. While it is a very casual retaurant, it was very clean and had lots of pictures/items hanging on the walls from Honduras. While we did have a bit of a language barrier, the owners were wonderful and very helpful when we told them our son was doing a report on their country. Last but not least, the food was delicious!! My husband, who loves Mexican food, said while similar he liked the taste of the Honduran food better. So, if any of you are in that neck of the woods I would suggest giving that little restaurant a try! :) Thanks again for the suggestion!

I'm so pleased you had a good experience!
And I'm glad you let us know how it went.
I'd like to try the place myself sometime.
Let us know know how the project turns out! Hope he gets an A!
