I stayed at one of those behind Cracker Barrel and was not impressed. As you might know I literally spend more time in hotels than in my own home, if it was me I would recommend the Hampton Inn (although I have not stayed at the one on 4042). Of the hotels in the area they typically are geared towards business people and therefore are more consistent and at a decent quality level.
We stayed at the Hampton Inn a few years ago, when husband came down for his job interview; it was very nice. I heard they are now "new and improved", so it probably is nicer now! They have a breakfast buffet that comes with the cost of the room, and is very convenient. I enjoyed the stay there.
I happened to notice that the newest one behind the Lowes, has never finished construction. Plywood on doors, lower windows, and HVAC unit locations. Guess the economy or they ran out of money on loan. We always like Holiday Inn Express in unknown parts, for being clean and relativley cheap. I agree with Hampton Inn up there.
We just had relatives (pretty picky ones too) visiting a couple of weeks ago. They stayed at the Hampton Inn at 40/42 and loved it. I find they tend to be consistent and the free breakfast is a nice plus too. I would recommend them since my relatives were pleased.
