Man Killed in Work-Site Accident at Clayton Bypass Posted: 3 minutes ago Clayton — An accident in the construction zone around the Clayton Bypass left one man dead Tuesday, authorities said. A concrete truck overturned on Ranch Road at about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday. The driver of the truck was pinned in the vehicle and was later pronounced dead, authorities said. The man's name hasn't been released, pending notification of relatives. The accident occurred in the work zone for the U.S. Highway 70 bypass near Clayton. The Johnston County Sheriff's Office, the state Department of Transportation, the state Division of Motor Vehicles and ST Wooten, the contractor for the bypass project, were investigating the incident.
How awful. My family's land is around the corner, on Little Creek Church Rd, in Clayton. I've travelled Ranch Road as long as I can remember, and things have changed so much. As fast as the Bypass is being built, I'm surprised there haven't been more accidents. I'll keep his family in my thoughts. Boo
