Okay, we use an pest control company to check for termites, bugs, and everything is fine. However, recently(I know due to weather change) the mice have started to invade. We've caught several w/ traps. Howwever, we can't seem to catch them all and believe it or not, are getting more brave. Think, the movie mouse hunt. Yep, that's the stupid kind of mouse we have. I watch the mouse run across the floor step OVER 2 traps and yet grab the stupid cheese. I know I can't be the only one to have this problem. should I call an exterminator? Can they even get rid of mice. The last straw was last night when one crawled into my daughter's bed...yuck!!! Yes, we got to kill that one. URghh. We have everything in sealed containers, cleaning up any stray dog food lying in the garage but still nothing. And we ahven't caught all that many(maybe 5 so far) so I know it's not an infestation. Plus, I think the pest people would have caught that last month when they came.

Let me know any ideas you have. We haev a 15yo dog who is not interested in chasing a thing any more. And cats are out. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I want these things gone! The house isn't unsanitary or unclean so why are they coming?

The can easily take the cheese off and scamper away as you have seen. My family had this same problem in our garage in the winter when I was growing up and we used peanut butter on the traps instead of cheese. They have to remain there to eat it and usually do not get away ;)

We moved into our house 2 years ago, a BRAND NEW house, in November. By December 1st we had mice all over the place! We killed probably 8 mice that winter, and I know there were more. And not just in the kitchen, one was found in our master bath tub, one in the powder room, and this year I've been told there have been droppings found upstairs! I have no idea why they are coming in every year, but it's disgusting! DO NOT use cheese, it doesn't work! Peanut butter works great, but each year our mice get smarter, and last year that didn't work after a while, so we moved onto glue traps, which can be bought in Lowes. Place them against the wall (as nasty as it sounds, our pantry would get the most mice, so we had to put them in there). Apparently, mice run against the wall, not out in the open, so that's why you put them there. I hope you catch your mice, but keep in mind, they'll probably stick around until springtime. I know ours are back this year, but we haven't seen any yet. Like I said, they're getting smarter. We have no idea where they are coming from, or why, but they're starting to feel like family! ;)

I used Orkin...but when the traps were full I just broke bad and put out D-Con poison. Worked like a chizamp.

Make sure you have sealed where any pipes, etc. come into the house, it's amazing how small of a hole they can come through. If you can't seal it, put some steel wool in there. They can't chew it. If you live near fields, they are just trying to come in out of the cold.

Chicken snake or a more realistic solution...an outdoor cat. Better yet, next time you see a neighborhood cat, feed it. They'll come making their rounds and you'll get free cat services without having to pay for vet bills or primary food supply. Let the cat go underneath your house through the crawl space on occasion. Just having a cat is a deterrent in many cases.

Cats = nature's remedy for mice. Haven't you ever seen Tom & Jerry? :)

    napalm

napalm! gets rid of mice and house at the same time.

"You smell that? Do you smell that? Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for twelve hours. When it was all over I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like - victory" Apocalypse now (1979)

We have a terrible mouse problem and someone told me that the smaller ones can trip the traditional mouse traps but they can't get out of those plastic covered "pinch" types. Dont' know if that makes any sense but I don't know what they are called. I hope that helps. We had some success with poison in the crawl space but once my kids called me and told me there was a tame mouse in the living room. Some poor poisoned guy was weaving around the floor. I was scared my dog might eat it and I felt terrible for the mouse!

I'm not saying that! I think the collateral damage may not quite be worth it though!

    yes. 1st redux film.
    =======================
"Redux is an adjective, used postpositively. From Latin, it means “brought back”.

The term has been adopted by film-makers to denote a new interpretation. This trend began with Apocalypse Now: Redux, which Francis Ford Coppola released in 2001, re-editing and extending his original 1979 movie. Pink Floyd The Wall Redux (2002) was a new version of the 1982 Pink Floyd movie, which changed the setting from World War II to the Vietnam War."

We were using the plastic traps but then switched back to the tranditional ones. They seem to work better. We're going to try to find some holes this weekend. Finding them in the pantry is disgusting and that's where they seem to like to go. Like I said, we keep everything in plastic containers now but find the droppings in the bottom of the pantry. We were using peanut butter for the longest time but then the catching wasn't happening so we switched to the cheese. I'm going to try the ultrasonic thing someone suggested. Do you know if it will hurt the dogs ears or not? Also, about how much do they run?

I'm not confident they'll go away as others on this board have said--they come back. But they are creeping me out now! Got to try to do something. Good luck to everyone else on here trying to catch these "varmits" too.

Have a great week & wish me luck mouse hunting--LOL.

    Take care,

    Pray.
Many years ago at a company party a co-worker's wife told my wife that they had mice and asked her to pray that the mice would "go away". My wife informed her that she thought God would want her and her husband to set traps and pray for more serious problems. My wife said their conversation ended quickly after her response.
