How many weeks before we have to stop mowing the lawn?

My mower broke yesterday and I wanted a guesstimate from anyone on how many more weeks we will have to mow the grass. I really don't want to purchase a mower if I don't have to.

Depends on what kind of grass you have and how the weather goes, I guess. I know, I am informative. :)

I don't mow my lawn myself, but my guess would be another month?

Maybe find a teen who wants to make some cash? Whereabouts are you? My son is looking for lawns to mow, maybe we could load the pushmower into the minivan.

LMAO, I was just thinking the same thing.
Last year this time it was brown or yellow cause of lack of rain..my grass is just as green as can be, and still growing grrr!

    ROFLMAO! i could not resist.

  9. I hate to say this but I can't wait for the grass cutting season to be over with. It comes down to gas for my vehicle to go to work or gas for my mower to cut my grass.

What sucks is filling up the riding mower's tank, and then having the drive belt break... again!!!

Will do, but I want to make sure we can get that mower in/out of the van before I make any promises. I'm pretty sure it can be done. Send me a PM with your lot size.

Thanks everyone. I do have a pushmower, but I'm lazy as heck. I would love to hire someone to mow, but I really can't afford it. I will just have to get my big ole' butt out with the push mower. I guess I was just waiting to hear from any of you "OH.. I'm done for the season!" Then I would convince myself that "everyone was done and I could just stop mowing". I guess it's better than shoveling than I would be doing in Dakota.

If you're lazy, and your lot is "easy", the rates could be very reasonable. :)

if you have bermuda grass it will soon go dormant, to speed it up a bit just cut it close to the ground and it shouldnt have enough time to fill in with green before it naturally goes dormant

bermuda, zoysia, centipede goes dormant as the evenings get cooler and days get shorter.

Fescue is coming into prime growing time and if weather is decent it could be growing on into dec.

My redneck neighbors apparently thought that July 1 was a good time to stop cutting the grass. :cuss:

I know I'll be glad when ours goes dormant. DH is a meticulous gardener and then he'll have more time in the house with us instead of doing his yard work! I'm very thankful he is like that though with the yard, pool, garage, cars, etc. as I'm like that with the house and I hate yard work so I don't have to do it.

Invest in an electric mower then gas is not an issue. :) It was a great investment for us! http://www.4042.com/4042forums/showthread.php?t=20445

I know you are not talking bout me now. We didn't move in until Aug 1st. Ours is about 6" high and getting cut tomorrow. We have a push mower and are borrowing a friends rider in the am!

The lot here is a LOT bigger than where we came from and with only a push mower it takes about 90 hours to cut.:?
