Folks...22 years ago hurricane Fran lumbered into Johnston County in September and wreaked havoc. At my house in the Cleveland Community, we lost power for 2 full weeks.

There were 22 trees down in the yard and across the driveway. Not small trees - big honking pines that would take a full day each to cut up with a chainsaw. The wind had blown rain into the house attic through the eave vents like a fire hose and damaged sheet rock throughout the house. For MONTHS afterwards we shared the roads with logging trucks every day during the slow cleanup and recovery process.

Everywhere you looked there was destruction. For two weeks we worked on doing what we could to clean up during the day, and then tried to find a hotel room to stay that night - some days we would have to drive as far as Greensboro to find one that wasn't full - there were thousands of other people doing the same thing. In short - it was a hot mess.

Please take the approaching storm seriously and prepare for your family and pets safety and well being.
