I made 80 treat bags with two pieces of candy and a spider ring. At 5:30, I already went through 30! I sent my SO to the store to buy three more huge bags of candy... I gave out one piece PER CHILD and it is now 8 pm. I just ran out. I'm waiting for the "tricks" to begin!! And just for the record, why do the older teens insist on coming around...TWICE?! Once is fine..I'm not happy with it but I gave them some hot tamales..second time, I tell them politely I got enough left for the little ones. AND. Kid of the year award goes to the "Scream" mask kid who came up to my door (funny, he was just there as spider man an hour earlier!) who DROPPED his little pumpkin bucket in my doorway where only two pieces of tootsie rolls came out. Obviously, he was trying to score extra candy. Smart kid, but I did the same when I was his age.. Some things never change!!! Whats your trick or treater story?
Maybe I have so few because a couple of years back - it was a fairly cold trick or treat night. . .DH was home and didn't feel good - so I got all dressed in black and put a clay mask on my face and teased my hair to hell - then powered it, dress all in black and pulled both of our vehicles almost up to the garage doors. I left about 4' of space between his truck and the door and placed a chair there. Turned off the motion sensors that light up the driveway when someone approaches, leaving only the solar lights and the lights outside the front door on. It was pretty darn dark. . . and I waited. . . Kids approach and I'd pop out, shine a bright flashlight at them and dragging one leg behind me walking toward them, going in a really scary voice "What is it you want!?!?" and wait for them to say trick or treat, or whatever. . .when some were too scared to talk, I'd ask "Do you want candy?" still with the scary voice - and when they'd nod or stammer I'd say "Speak up if you want your candy!" I heard more than one saying I scared them to death. I had a freaking blast! Best time I ever had on Halloween. . .DH's NASCAR buddy who lives around the block said I scared the snot outta him when he brought his niece begging, so hubby says I'm not allowed to scare the kids anymore :-( Ferrick - I have 2 1/2 bags of Butterfinger wafer things like KitKat sorta and Nestles Crunch - if you live near 210 you are welcome to mine. I gave each kid 4 and didn't make a dent.
I didnt have many at all. Last year, I had dozens. You just never know!! What I hate are the older kids who dont even bother to dress up. What's up with that?? My favorite tonite was a little toddler who walked right in my house, bold as could be, and started babbling at my fish. She wasnt interested in candy, or her parents, or her siblings, or anything else ... just the single fish in the tank. She was precious!!
I had tons of kids too! Couldn't believe it. It was the first Halloween for me in this neighborhood. Will definitely plan better next year. I ran out of candy. For a while there I was looking through the pantry trying to figure out what I could give when the candy bowl was empty. Hot chocolate and nabs is all I could come up with... boy wouldn't they hate me for that! Luckily all my neighbors either had the same problem with their candy dish or just finally gave up around 8:15 so I didn't have to turn anyone away empty handed.
As usual we had tons of kids but did not get many until after 6:30pm (putting dls time off for an extra week really messed with the trick or treaters). Had a great bunch of kids, no trouble and only a few too old kids but did not run out of candy but had to cut back on how much i was giving each kid after 7:30 or so, so i would have enough for all the kids that came later. Turned out all the decorations and lights about 8:15 and headed out for the adult Halloween celebration:-D Was great seeing some familiar 4042 faces and loved how all the kids were dressed.
We had 300+ kids last night! I could not believe it! At my last house in Raleigh, I was lucky if I got 10! There was two haunted houses taking place, a "trunk or treat" taking place at the church up the street AND a hayride going around the neighborhood with 50 kids on it. It was AWESOME. It reminded me alot of the Halloweens when I was a kid when the streets were full of kids and almost every house had a light on. Next year, we are definately doing a haunted house! Can't wait!
I had NONE. This is my first halloween here. Noone in this neighborhood talks. I dont think I like it. My husband went around to the front door, pulled his shirt over his head (like he was headless) Rang the doorbell, I answered, He said trick or treat, I shut the door a little and told him to hold on, I went back and handed him one of the cats......ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!
We went last night and couldnt believe how many kids/parents came out... usually few go to the neighborhood we go to, this year they parked everywhere.. but atleast I got an hour of walking in last night!!
We didn't have any trick or treaters either  But I don't expect any as we aren't in a subdivision. We did take my boys and nieces out though into the subdivision where their home daycare is, they had a blast!!! It's a smaller subdivision so not too many other kids out but they had fun!!! I'm with you mom2!! At least I got my walking in!!! (or maybe I should post that on the diet support thread)
We only had 9 total, in 2 groups. This was kind of weird for us. We live in a subdivision where we usually get a lot of the kids from the neighborhood, plus many more who drive in from other areas. We have a ton of candy left over. You just never know.
i had one and that was my nephew. everyone else in my neighborhood always turns their light off so no one comes that way anymore.
