For the past 2 nights I have had the most HORRIBLE time sleeping. The first night I had "bowel issues". Last night about the same time the other mess started, and right after I took a pill to help myself with the other issue, I felt like I had the pill stuck in my throat. I got up and drank big gulps of juice to try and see if that helped. No luck. Then I tried to eat something at breakfast and drink some more. It is still there. I doubt it is the pill, but it feels like when I swallow, I have something there that will NOT go away. It does not hurt, but it is annoying. Makes me feel like I'm either going to burp or throw up. A friend at work said that it could be reflux and to try and take a Nexium or Prilosec or something for it. Any suggestions from my reliable 4042ers? Please let it something over the counter..... Thanks All!

Best thing to do is go talk to the pharmacist. They know ALOT, sometimes more than Dr.'s do (No offense to any Dr.'s on this thread)

I am not 100% certain what you are asking at this point, and I'm not sure if this response was offered in the other thread w/ the same title but....

An old fashioned remedy for getting a pill to go all the way down when it feels as if it's stuck in the back of the throat is to pinch off a piece of bread from the heel of the loaf and attempt to slightly chew it and then swallow the bread as whole as possible. The bread pushes the pill down through the pipe. This also works with any other small object stuck in the back of the throat. My daughter once had a popcorn seed get lodged in the back of the throat (the kernel was not popped all the way), this worked for her.

It was from an old doctor who practiced the 'ole timey medicine. He is no longer around.

If this was not your question I apologize for the confusion.

I was going to recommend bread as well. My dogs LOVE popcorn and I bite the kernel off to share with them. Lisa-Marie still got a piece stuck in her throat and was doing teh hard swallow thing. I fed her a slice of bread and it fixed it immediately.

Yep, sounds like acid reflux but if you are having a hard time swallowing and feel like something is stuck in your throat I would ask the pharmacist about a suppository to help. The sleeping problem could be caused by this symptom but I would let the pharmacist know about both issues and see what he/she suggests.

    Good luck,
    Sherry

Glad to hear you are feeling better and I see the humor is back also. Keep that door open to the nursing home as I might be right behind you.

Dumb question here . . . how is a suppository going to help a pill stuck in her throat?
