    I would be downright ****ed if I paid a great deal for a placebo.

    I wouldn’t imagine that local docs have these pills to give away, and corporate Big Pharma isn’t going to spend valuable dollars to provide a placebo when they spend so much to promote the drugs they do.

    As for samples going to those who are wealthy and insured, as a former rep, we gave as many samples as the office would take, unless the medical office was unfriendly to reps or had a no sample policy. One doc in town has ZERO to do with reps, and thus it’s almost a certainty that he has few sample starters to offer. And, for my money, if a doc is going to try me on a new drug, I want a free test drive sample, rather than shelling out major bucks for a drug that doesn’t work, or one that I can’t tolerate.

    So, if your physician’s office isn’t rep friendly, don’t expect many samples. And, if you aren’t sure, ask the doc if they have samples of the meds they want you to take. If not, I’d ask more in depth as to why.

    After all, your health and ability to afford meds is an important thing for them to know.
