I have been looking for a new desk for my 15 year old son. The classifieds on here leave a lot to be desired. His current desk was free and is way too small for his use. If anyone has one they would like to get rid of, let me know. Thanks
Oh how I LOVE Craigslist!!! Some of my greatest finds on there include a bedroom suit, coffee table, end table, recliner for $50, air hockey table for $50 that we just traded for a pool table (hubby loved me being on CL THAT time  ). I am addicted. I wonder if there is a support group
I am with you on craigslist. I have also bought many excellent deals. I let a friend of mine know about craigslist and she is now addicted along with one of her friends.
How big is his current one? How many drawers? Is it wood? If yes, I might consider a swap. I have a 3x6 wood desk, 4 drawers plus a file drawer. I moved it from my old home and it is much too big for its current room.
I was going to recommend the Duke Surplus Store - but sadly it looks like they closed their doors on July 1st http://www.dukenews.duke.edu/2007/06/dukesurplus.html I've enjoyed shopping at the Habitat Reuse Center in the past. You never know what you'll find there. I've never bought a desk - but I have seen them there in the past. We bought some kitchen cabinets/counters from Habitat to put in our garage for storage. One area of the cabinets makes a great desk. The desk I use in our bonus room is made of two bookshelves with an inexpensive counter top purchased from Lowe's over them. My sister's desk is made of two filing cabinets with a counter top. The desk I'm currently sitting at is made of some bathroom cabinets Lowe's was selling for 75% at one point last year. One side of the desk is an actual cabinet with two doors. The other side has two sets of drawers with a countertop placed over them. http://www.habitatwake.org/restore/shop.html Habitat for Humanity Reuse Center Write a Review Address: 2400 Alwin Ct Raleigh, NC 27604-1402 Phone: (919) 833-6768 Thu-Sat 10am-5pm.
Check out NC State Surplus property warehouse on NC 54 in Cary. They usually have lots of office chairs and desks pretty cheap. They're open M-F 8-5, take the NC 54 exit off I-40 West, turn right at the end of the ramp, they are about 1/2 mile on the right. Not exactly close to 4042, but might be worth the trip, or stop by next time you're up that way- their inventory changes daily.
Desk I sent you a private message, but I wasn't sure if you got it. I have a desk free for a good home if you would be interested. Let me know. Gabi
Amen to that!! I bought a desk up there 2 years ago that looked almost new, had one drawer handle missing, huge wooden 5-drawer desk with computer rest for $5. Also a 4 drawer file cabinet for $15. http://www.ncstatesurplus.com/ssp/public/ssphomepage/ssp.htm
