Oh, that kind of dirt.

I got some from Ogden Landscape last year, but that's kind of far if you're in Smithfield, the delivery charge might be more than the dirt. Sorry, I'm no help. ;)

Yeah, I thought he was looking for some juicy gossip! We have gotten dirt from that landscaping place at the corner of Cornwallis & 42 in the past.

i got a load of dirt from that place at 42 and cornwallis and it was full of glass and sticks and little pieces of burnt lumber. plus, the delivery truck driver...oh, brother. instead of just driving smoothly and slowly to the spot in my yard i wanted it dumped decided to back up 5 feet and stop. pop the clutch, back up five feet and stop. einstein decides to stop one of these times exactly in the middle of the absolute lowest spot in my mostly flat yard and when he popped the clutch to go again, he spun and got stuck. wound up dumping the whole load in the middle of my yard 100 feet from where i wanted it, then had to get somebody else to come over and pull him out. after about 8 pickup truck loads of me shoveling by hand, i had to go rent a dingo to move it. fun.

Ugh. When did you get your dirt? We got ours about 7 years ago. The only complaint we had was crabgrass in it, but I guess some weeds are to be expected.

i've also gotten pickup truckloads of sand there and had no problem with it, but then i delivered it to myself

Oh, I see. We've gotten sand from there in the past as well (5/6 years ago). No problems, but I wuold be pretty PO'd about the dirt that you got. We put ours in our garden, nothing lke digging out a carrot and slicing your hand on a shard of glass. Yuk!

We have some left over dirt from digging out our basement. You'd have to find a way to load + haul it, but email or PM me if you want to come get some of it.

    It's good clean red clay.

We had a dump truck deliver a load a few years ago and learned the hard way about not allowing the truck to get to close to the edge of the driveway. He drove off the edge and did some damage which has lead to cracks in the driveway. Repairing and patching has been on our to do list and we need to do it this spring of summer. SO...don't let the dump truck drive over the edge of your driveway.

Then there was our gravel delivery (different company)... when the owner/driver drove in rather than backing in to a tight area. The dump truck got stuck. He made some huge divets and the area we'd paid to be graded. I called my husband home from work that day to handle that situation :)
