Awhile back there was a thread on Beaufort. It had blackbeard and interesting things like that to do while there. It was great. Searched the forum and can't find it. Anyone remember what I'm talking about? We're wanting to take the kids away for a bit and trying to find something reasonable--LOL. We camp in the fall/ spring but are not doing that in summer. Have to draw the line somewhere for my sanity.

We'd love to go to the beach but hotels I've checked out are around $200/ night / room. Ahh, that's $800 just for two nights! We have to hvae 2 rooms. We'd love to spend mroe than 2 days somewhere but if that's all we can do than so be it. If you have any ideas of great places to stay at hte beach, let me know. We'd even do a rental but those are outrageous! We don't need anything fancy whatsoever b/c really, we'll be out on the beach mostly or visiting some museums somewhere. I used to live near Morehead so familiar w/ what's in that area. Love the Pine Knoll Aquarium and Fort Macon stuff. I woldn't mind taking the kids to the aquarium as well.

So, suggestions, ideas, do send them my way. We have not been able to go anywhere in ages and just really need some time to getaway w/ the kids and just have fun. No medical worries, no house worries, no school worries, just have a relaxing good time as a family. If you know of a place to do that, let me know.

    Thanks.

I know you said no camping.... but.....

KOA campgrounds have the Kozy Kabins - that have beds and air conditioning... some even have kitchens.. They are much cheaper than hotels.

There is a campground in Wilmington that has them, I believe. There is also one in Shallotte - it is not right on the beach, but close. And the one in Shallotte is only 30 mins from Myrtle Beach. North and South Carolina residents get a discount at the new Hard Rock Park. There is also the Ripley's Aquarium - as well as all the other Ripley's stuff.

    Hope this helps.

You should really check out the vacation rentals on www.vrbo.com

People list their homes, with pics and prices, and you can sometimes get a GREAT deal, if you're willing to spend a little time on the site looking around.
