It's not just blacks that talk that way. I know I’m making a mistake by even posting to this thread. But I do agree that the way one speaks has a lot to do with how others perceive them. Most people that speak in that kind of mannerism, most likely will not get good jobs, especially if the job is a public job. They have doomed themselves to low paying job. That is unless they get on TV on one of those sitcoms that makes a mockery out of everything and everyone. Or on one of the reality shows trying to win money and make even a worst fool of themselves.
I agree. He and Morgan Freeman are on the right track. Don't agree with everything stated but do agree in general. Grace
Oh. My. Dear. God. My 7yo came home from school the other day jibber jabbering some crap I couldn't understand but I did catch the end part about "be all up in yo grill". I saw twenty shades of red and let him know that under NO circumstances at ANY time was he allowed to speak in that fashion. .. I must have scared the crap out of him because he hasn't done it since. Seven is different than seventeen. I hope, at seventeen, he'll have the respect for me and himself, to be ackin' da foo fo entertainment and not as a way of life.
I believe the proper elucidation would be... Spank his bottom, madam. We wouldn't want any ebonics to pollute this thread, you know.
It is easy to condemn those who don't sound like us or look like us. I took a brilliant North Carolina girl North for my job and even though she was a recording engineer (RCA used to fly her up to NYC to fix problems) and worked as a Nuclear Safety Engineer; the minute folks saw those grits flying out of her mouth she was automatically relegated to idiot status. Well it was their loss, she is now back in North Carolina. You might not like how they sound or communicate but you might lose out if that is as far as you dig.
