I know this isn't North Carolina, but it's the type of thinking that scares me. Surely some idiot legislator in NC will want to duplicate or better it. http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2007704060333
I dont agree either. If the child wants an I Pod they must do chores or get a job and earn one. Giving them a handout teaches them that everything is free. wonder how financially strained Michigan residents will feel about paying higher taxes to buy someone else's kid an iPod. ugh....
I wonder what their reasoning-how will having an IPod help a child educationally? I've heard of a lot of colleges requiring their students to have laptops and that makes sense to me, but what will an IPod do for public school kids?
A few years ago, Duke issued iPods to students to "stimulate creative uses of digital technology". I wonder how many of those iPods have class lectures on them, and how many are filled to the hilt with songs?
Of course those Ipods issued to Duke students probably weren't even as up to date as what most came to school with. Education or not, it was the tuition that paid for that Ipod, not a taxpayer.
It's too late. Too much of America has already learned that. I don't like my tax dollars paying for someone else's kid's ANYTHING.
Me neither! My tax $$$ for the house and cars, etc.. a % goes to the school, I don't even have kids nor do I like kids!
I do have kids, but I don't think it's right that you are paying for schools... and if I used a private school, *I* would still be paying for a school system I don't even use.
