New Meadow School Dedication Sunday Meadow School will be officially dedicated on Sunday, November 21 at 3 p.m. at the school. A presentation of the history of the school will be featured. Selma Elementary Students Traveling Abroad Selma Elementary School will host an international festival on Friday, November 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. "Around the World in One Night" will begin with a PowerPoint presentation followed by dances and songs from various groups. Visitors will travel the halls to visit the booths, play games, and do crafts. In the cafeteria, food from various countries will be sold. The purpose of the festival is to enhance cultural awareness and diversity and to benefit from the VIF teachers at Selma Elementary. Countries represented include Argentina, Australia, China, England, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, the Netherlands, Nigeria, and South Africa. Cleveland Elementary Kindergarten Observing Thanksgiving Early The Kindergarten classes at Cleveland Elementary School will dress as Pilgrims and Indians and eat a Thanksgiving meal together on Thursday, November 18 from 10:15 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. to give them the experience of the feasts that the Pilgrims and Indians may have had. Also at Cleveland, students recognized this month for demonstrating good character will be photographed in the school's Commons area on Wednesday, November 19. Teachers discuss the month's character trait and incorporate the word and its meaning within the content areas. Donna Carlson's first grade students will have a traditional Thanksgiving feast dressed as Pilgrims and Indians. They will recite the Thanksgiving story, sing a song, and recite a poem. The feast will take place on November 23 at 11:30 a.m. in room B11. It is the culmination of a unit on the origin of Thanksgiving, Native Americans, good manners and etiquette, nutrition, and friendship. South Campus Community Hosting Book FairUsing the theme "Red, White, and Blue-Reading is All-America," South Campus Community School will host a Book Fair between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday, December 6 through Thursday, December 9. Family Night will be held on Tuesday, December 6 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Funds raised through the Fair will be used to purchase instructional materials and books for the school.
