Is anyone here a patient of theirs? What's been your experience there? I used to go there until there were billing problems as well as a problem when I went there because of a ear infection which left me worse off when I left than when I went in :x Because on short notice I didn't know where else to go I tried to make an appointment with them last week,I figured that maybe after they moved into the new medical building they underwent a change for the better,I called twice, never got to speak to a anybody, had to leave messages, each time their message told me that someone would call me back before the end of the day,well-nobody ever called me back, needless to say they can now stick their appointment where the grass don't grow! Are there any other Family Physicians around McGees or Clayton that anyone here can recommend? Thanks in advance!
Dr. David Meehan is just down from CVS in Clayton (550-5354 www.meehanmedical.com). Went there Friday for the first time for a persistent cough that has lasted 6 weeks. He is awesome. Never felt rushed...very nice guy. Nice staff too. I called on Thursday and got in on Friday! Got some meds, hopefully better soon! On short notice (urgent), I had a good experience at the Quikmed in Smithfield six weeks ago when all of this started. They are an urgent care. No appointment needed. Good luck...I know how hard it is to find someone good with a good staff/billing/etc.
Thanks for your reply!! Is Dr. Meehan on Shotwell Rd. in Clayton? Maybe I'll give his place a try, they certainly sound pretty good! Off course they would have to except the fact that I do not have insurance. What approximately is the cost involved when going to Urgent Care,is it more than at a regular Physician's office? I do hope you are feeling better soon!!:grouphug:
Thanks for the well wishes!! Yes, he is on Shotwell. I am not sure about the cost w/o insurance. We have insurance until Oct. 31, so I haven't had to deal with it yet. I did see the bill though and the urgent care was $112, which included a steriod shot and Dr. Meehan was $220 for the visit (over 1 hour) and then added fees for chest x-rays, breathing test, nasal swab, and bloodwork. All told it was $427. I am sure my insurance will find a way to not pay it all, but as sick as i have been, I do not care at this point. Just want to feel better again. It may be cheaper if they know you do not have insurance. I would call first, but they do advertise that they will work out a payment plan if uninsured. BTW...he thinks I might have pertussis (whooping cough)! My kids got the booster last year, thank goodness! 40 years old and getting childhood ailments! Go figure!
This is sort off topic, but has anyone here take their kids to Raleigh Pediatrics - the Garner location on Hwy 50? I'm thinking of switching pediatricians and I've wondered about that one. My kids have been going to Growing Child Pediatrics since my oldest was born, but lately I've been less than impressed with them.
:hurray::hurray::hurray: LOVE Garner pediatrics! Have never had a problem with getting an appointment quickly. All the doctors we've seen are great AND have good bedside manner..... My favorite is Dr.Britt.
Love Garner Peds too! My girls have gone there since they were little and they are still willing to see my 21yr old! Never had a problem being seen same day for urgent issues and the staff is always very nice. Love Dr. Hedgepeth and Dr. Taylor the most. As for local adult docs, I've heard really good things about Horizon Family Medicine on Hwy 42 near the DMV. Hubby is thinking of switching to them.
I hope you're feeling better by now,I'm not sure if I ever had whooping cough or not... The fact that you said you have insurance until the end of this month brings to mind the time when I went to the Eye Doctor while I still had insurance, then my husband got laid off and lost the insurance.Blue Cross then canceled the policy retrospectively and we had to foot the bill ourselves, that seemed quite sneaky in my opinion.
Thanks for the well wishes. I hope I feel better soon too. I am tired of being sick and stuck at home! I hope his insurance doesn't follow suit with Blue cross! We are trying to get in every imaginable appt between now and Oct. 31. I am calling to get the vision appts tomorrow. Already have the dental scheduled. We will be in a mess if they do what you said happened to you! We have paid the monthly fee, so I do not see how they could justify it, but it is BCBS! Good luck finding someone to treat you. It is frustrating...
they are owned and controled by the hospital. all billing i s through the hospital. that is why all the best doc left there. i think it was three or four docs left before the hospital took over. let that be my advice.. if they are not good enough to work for,.. then they may not be good enough to go to...
