    Students Offer Helping Hands, Supplies

Four Oaks Middle students continue to show their Cardinal citizenship
and character with the school's fundraiser for the victims of Hurricane
Katrina. The students have raised $1,955.15 for the "Helping Hands for
Hope" fundraiser thus far. The proceeds will be donated to the American
    Red Cross.

Students at West Johnston High School collected over 5,573 items. In
that number, 3,020 pounds of food was delivered to the Food Bank of
Central and Eastern North Carolina. That amount of food will total over
2,000 meals. West Johnston also sent clothes, personal hygiene
products, toys, diapers, and animal food to the Salvation Army and local
churches who have hired trucks to take supplies to places such as
    Gulfport, MS.
