Johnston County Schools is hosting kindergarten transition
sessions for parents of children who will be attending kindergarten this
Fall. The remaining sessions are scheduled to be held in the
district's Title I schools on the following dates:
Feb. 9 at South Smithfield Elementary; Feb. 16 at Meadow; Feb. 23 at
Cooper Elementary; March 7 at Selma Elementary; March 9 at Wilson's
Mills Elementary; March 14 at Four Oaks Elementary; and, March 16 at
    Glendale-Kenly Elementary.

During these sessions, parents who attend before February 24 will learn
valuable information about the kindergarten registration process. In
addition, parents will learn about specific types of activities they can
offer their children to get a "jump-start" on kindergarten and hear
about the daily experiences of a typical kindergarten student.

Dinner will be served, and an 18-minute movie for children on what to
expect in kindergarten will be shown while the parent workshop is being
presented. Reservations are required using a form sent home through the
schools or by calling Sarah Thompson at 934-4361, extension 376.
