It's me again....the same mother cat has another litter of kittens -- 9 kittens in 3 months and 3 weeks. YIKES!!! Yes, she has an appointment to be spayed in September but in the meanwhile, I have 4 kittens to give away.
They are 4 1/2 weeks and there is 3 boys and 1 girl. I have a dark gray tabby boy, a dark gray and white boy with some tabby markings, a light gray and white boy with darker gray tabby markings and my only girl is gray and white semi-longhaired and feels like cotton. They are playful and sweet and learning to eat softened kitten chow and use the litter box. I have pictures if you want to email me at JALsunny@AOL.com. I can email you the pictures so you can have a look. Thanks so much.

When will they be ready to leave mom? Have they had any shots or anything yet?

    Thanks.

The kittens will be 5 weeks old Sat., Aug. 25. They are not old enough to have shots or to be dewormed yet. They usually leave the mother cat between 6 and 7 weeks. All of the kittens are eating softened kitten chow and using the litter box and they still nurse 2-3 times a day but only a few minutes. Email me if you want to see the pictures. Thanks

    Just posting my experience here:

Kittens should have their first shots at about 6-7 weeks of age. Their first de-worming between week 8 and 10.

While kittens can eat independently (be weaned) from their mother in five weeks, kittens who live with their litter and mother until they reach 8-10 weeks of age are usually much better equipped to take on the world as a cat than those who have not.

Mother cats (and dogs) teach their young a lot of important things in those first 8 weeks of life. How to play, how to determine what is safe and what's not, and most important of all how to be a cat (or dog),

Just because they can eat food out of a bowl does not mean they are ready to leave the next.

I was at a customers in Henderson last week and she had some kittens also. I was hard not to bring at least one home. I'm sure DH and Mattie would be thrilled - NOT!
