I got a satellite radio for Christmas. I don’t have time to install it. Anyone know someone who can install it? Best Buy wants $118 to install it.

They said it would be $72 for the installation, $5 store materials, $13 to hook it up to the AM/FM antenna, $30 for something else.

The $30 IS price for the FM Modulator itself, then they're gonna charge you an additional $13 to install it. UNREAL!!!

Did you get Sirius or XM, which model? (can't help you install it.. just curious which one you got, I used to have an XM Sportster and got a Sirius Sportster Replay for Xmas)

Another tip.. price match that FM Modulator against Circuit City, if you've got Sirius they charge $30 for the FM Modulator, but CC charges $20. If you go to the CC website and put it in your "shopping cart" and then print the page (don't actually purchase it), this way it shows the price & item, then take the printed page with you to Best Buy and they have to match the $20 price. You'll have to take it to customer service counter to have it rung up there. The same may be true if you have to have XM's version of the FM Modulator also.

I think mine was $70 and had it installed with Circuit City...

I had typed out a long reply earlier that apparantly the forum decided to eat. But suffice it to say if you have 30 minutes at most you can install the thing yourself.

The instructions seem easy but Best Buy made it sound complicating.

If you do a simple installation without the fm modulator it is really simple. Step 1. Mount your antenna following the recommended placement instructions. Step 2. Run the antenna wire to where you want the unit mounted, concealing the wire as needed behind trim panels and under carpet. Step 3. Plug the antenna and power wire into the radio unit. Step 4. Mount said unit. Step 5. Plug the power cord into the cigarette lighter (usually the type of power adaptor supplied with the unit). Step 6. Follow the instructions in the manual to find an FM frequency for both the unit and the radio to operate on.

Depending on which brand you have (XM or Sirius) depends on how you wire the FM modulator. In either case it is only one or two more simple steps.
