They have a produce stand near Cleveland Elementary where we get our fruit/ veggies from a bit. Since there are 9 of us, we buy HUGE quantities at BJ's and such. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried purchasing in bulk from L & G and how it was? We'd love to buy in bulk from a local farmer if we could. Or does anyone know who does such a thing? Example, we go through approximately a bag of apples a day, 2 bunches of bananas about every other day, kiwi, plums, strawberries, peaches, etc. We consume a lot of fresh fruit and even more veggies as we cook w/ veggies. We can't have our own garden for various reasons. Any suggestions on where locally we could get all this stuff in one shot? We used to go to the farmer's market but it is tough now to go out there. Just really curious if L & G would sell in bulk to local people or if anyone has tried this w/ other farmers. Let me know what you all do and where you go and how you like it. Thanks. Double T Farms.... but from the web site it looks like they are full this year: http://www.localharvest.org/farms/M9597
Have you been to the wholesale place at the farmer's market in Raleigh? My buddy always goes there to buy fruit when his church makes fruit baskets. They are located near the seafood restaurant and Nahunta pork center. You drive inside the building and tell them what you want. They sell only in large quantity (ie boxes) and the prices seem really reasonable.
That's where we used to go. Trying to find something a little closer to home. Going to try Porters and L& G. See if they offer any deals. Apparently, I need to get some Porters Ice Cream too--LOL. (another thread). Thanks for the info. Stephanie--mom to 7
