Have you notice that there are big lands clearing on both sides of the highway, where "Welcome To Clayton" sign is? It's on Hwy 70. Another new subdivsion? Shopping center?

I had asked the girls in the CVS about the clearing that was going on right there.. and they said it was going to be a Fred Smith shopping center to do with LionsGate.

Speaking of such... anyone notice the new "Entering Clayton City Limit" sign on Amelia Church Rd., it's just before you get to Wynston subdivision if you were coming from 42. They seemed to sneak that in under the cover of darkness.... them clayton city limits are gettin' awful close to my house... :x

    I know .

The ETJ a year or so ago was to Amelia Church Rd down 42. Was wondering if it has reached Cornwallis yet...

Let's see...what corner of Clayton doesn't have a bank? It would be nice to see a Kroger or Harris Teeter in Clayton, but I'd suspect that many are afraid of Wal-Mart Supercenters.

    ON THE WMPM

Commissioners Delay Vote On Expanding Clayton's ETJ - Clayton, the fastest growing town in Johnston County , wants to control a larger area around their corporate limits. Monday night, the Town of Clayton officially asked county commissioners to allow their extraterritorial jurisdiction, or ETJ, to expand from a one-mile to a two-mile radius. The additional area would give Clayton planning jurisdiction over 3,400 parcels of land. Town leaders expect growth to rapidly expand around the US70 Clayton Bypass when it is finished. Commissioners delayed taking any action on Clayton’s request until they hear from Smithfield , Pine Level, and Wilson ’s Mills, who will appear before them over the next two months seeking ETJ expansions. Most of the other municipalities in Johnston County are expected to follow suit.
