Anyone had it done? Where did you go and would you recommend? There are so many out there now, it must mean it is so easy anyone can do it and that is what concerns me.
I just had PRK done on one eye last month and went to: Lowry Porter Ophthalmology 1422 East Millbrook Road Raleigh, NC 27609 Location Phone: 919-876-4064 Dr. Porter is a little farther than I wanted to go, being in Clayton, but I researched it in advance and he came highly recommended. They were not the cheapest, but I found him to be professional, patient with me, open and available to any and all questions, and professionally staffed. He is also affiliated with Rex and WakeMed. His website is very informative: http://www.eyeporter.com/ He gives a free consultation in which they determine if you are a good candidate for it. It also gives you an opportunity to ask all the questions you want. If you decide to go through with the procedure, all of the follow up appts. are included. I was so nervous, but the procedure was very quick (maybe 10 minutes!) and I am super pleased with the results. I wish I had done it SO much sooner!
Duke Eye Center http://eyecenter.dukemedicine.org/eye_center Dr. Terry Kim was my doc. Got mine in 2004. Life-changing procedure for me! Almost legally blind without my contacts. Also had bad astigmatism. 20/20 in about 60 sec for each eye! No problems since. I know they've improved even more since then!
