His son, James, said Gibson died after a brief battle with cancer. He was 73.
Sad news !! I'm sad to hear this one. Over the years this guy made me laugh. It's also sad that only one other coworker knew who he was and about the show Laugh-in. we sat around for a bit remembering the show and how it was cut edge back then.I'm getting old.
He was also great as the "Namby - Pamby" judge on Boston Legal. I can still picture his reciting poems on "Laugh In", especially when one of his was followed by John Wayne's (Remember, this was during the tensions of Viet Name): "The sky is blue, the grass is green, get off your ***, and join the Marines."
My Favorite Martian featured Ray Walston and a young Bill Bixby. Ran across a Matlock episode today that featured Billy Mumy, from Lost In Space...amazing to recognize child actors from the 60's as adults.
He made a guest appearance in 1964. But, of course I wasn't born then so I don't know how I remember that?!
