All business interests and individuals should be aware of counterfeit $100 bills circulating in the area. The Clayton Police Department is investigating two recent cases in the Town of Clayton.

The fake bills all have carried serial number FE79295800A. Investigators have learned that several of these $100 bills with the same serial number have been passed throughout a wide region southeast of the Raleigh area over the past few weeks.

All $100 bills should be inspected closely for the aforementioned serial number. Close scrutiny of the bills will prove that security features such as watermarks and detailed micro-printing are absent, but the bill may appear valid at first glance.
If You Receive a Counterfeit Bill:

    • Do not return it to the passer.
    • Delay the passer if possible.
    • Observe the passer's description, as well as that of any companions, and the license plate numbers of any vehicles used.
    • In Clayton, contact the police department (or appropriate local police agency, if elsewhere). You may also contact a United States Secret Service field office.
    • Limit the handling of the note. Carefully place it in a protective covering, such as an envelope.
    • Surrender the note or coin only to a properly identified police officer or a U.S. Secret Service special agent.

    Reminds me of a story..

This week while be-bopping around I stopped into a store, grabbed a Mt Dew and paid with change. I didn't have any $ bills so I grabbed the change from the bottom of my pocket book, I swear I thought the lady behind me was going to have a heart failure because it took a little longer for the cahier to count the change. I gave her an ugly look when she "sighed" :boxing::boxing:

Good to know. I've got some stuff for sale on Craig's list, and folks coming over to look at it later on. I'll keep the serial number in mind, and tell them I'll need $20's...

That's ok. They'll probably pay with a cashier's check or money order made out for twice the amount and offer you to keep a little for yourself for your trouble and send the rest to some guy in Africa.
