I have been waiting for a couple of months now since my wife and I scheduled our look-see for Feb. 15-18. It's finally almost here! Now, I really need your help. Based on MLS listings, discussion threads, etc., Tafton, Riverwood, and Walden are tops on our list to check out. Any other suggestions? Lot size of .5+acres, master bedroom size, sense of community, schools of course, and price range $200,000-240,000 are all factors in the ultimate decision. My wife, kids, and I are going to stay at the Comfort Suites Hotel. Any ideas for dinners, etc.? Any other must-sees while we're down there? Thanks!
If you are looking for homes, also check out www.vast.com and go to the real estate section. It provides not only MLS stuff but also FSBO and classifieds as well. It is extremely useful when house hunting. There is quite a variety in this area and all depends upon what you are looking for. Good luck to you and your family and welcome to the neighborhood! Take care, stephanie--mom to 7
Fairground Pointe is a nice subdivision too with homes for sale. It is over in the McGees Xroads area...Hwy 210 and Hwy 50. The homes fit the criteria you listed and the schools are: McGees Elementary and Middle and West Johnston HS. Happy Hunting
I think the best thing to do is get in the car and ride. See the area and note things you like and don't like. Look at the condition of other homes in the area and what is up the block. Check out the schools. get to know the location of doctors, pharmacies and such - those things may not be thrilling but better to learn where they are now then wait until you really need one..lol I learn a lot about an area by driving about. I love to drive so it is not a chore for me. The carolina outlets mall in Smithfield is pretty neat. There are all sorts of things to see over there. If you want some home cooking - go to Kings Restaurant on 301 in Four oaks. That someplace you can get a taste of North Carolina/Southern Cooking. (and it's not just barbeque). I highly recommend the Fried Pork chops. They are batter fried. We never see the up north, but it is good!
